Ze is vrijwilliger bij Team Statushouders. Daar helpt ze mensen die nog maar kort in Nederland wonen om hun weg te vinden.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bijvoorbeeld bij het maken van een afspraak bij de tandarts of contact met de gemeente en bij het zoeken naar een school voor de kinderen. Hoe werkt het onderwijs in Nederland? Waar kun je hulp aanvragen? En wat staat er in alle brieven die je krijgt? Zij hebben ervaringen die je niet uit boeken kunt leren,\u201d legt ze uit. \u201cZe weten hoe het is om opnieuw te beginnen. Ook kunnen ze uitleg geven in de taal van de nieuwkomer. Statushouders moeten in korte tijd veel regelen. Denk aan een woning, inburgering en afspraken met organisaties. Dan raken ze soms het overzicht kwijt. Dan is het fijn als iemand naast je staat die begrijpt wat je meemaakt&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dina weet nog goed dat ze zich soms alleen voelde toen ze net in Nederland woonde. &#8220;Niet iedereen wilde mij helpen. Dat vond ik moeilijk. Daarom wil ik nu anderen helpen.&#8221; Het vrijwilligerswerk heeft haar veel gebracht. Ze heeft nieuwe mensen leren kennen en haar netwerk is groter geworden. Ze ziet dat kleine dingen veel kunnen betekenen. &#8220;Soms wil iemand alleen samen koffiedrinken of even praten. Dat lijkt misschien klein, maar voor die persoon betekent het veel.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haar belangrijkste advies aan nieuwkomers? &#8220;De eerste maanden zijn moeilijk. Misschien zelfs het eerste jaar. Maar stap voor stap kun je alles regelen. Dina heeft een duidelijke boodschap voor mensen die twijfelen zich aan te melden. &#8220;Je hoeft niet je hele leven vrijwilligerswerk te doen. Maar als je iemand kunt helpen, doe het dan. Veel nieuwkomers begrijpen nog niet goed hoe alles in Nederland werkt.
