"A bond is created here"

Bryan studies law in Leeuwarden and visits Moody's regularly. He makes attempts to study there, but it is so cosy that it often doesn't come to that. "I come from Emmen and did an internship at Jimmy's there," he explains. "When I moved to Leeuwarden for my studies, I discovered there was also a branch here (now Moody's). I decided to take a look. Now I'm here several times a week."

"I used to be bullied a lot," Bryan explains. "And things happened in my childhood that changed me. I am happy with who I am, but I am different from an average a 21-year-old student. At this age, I'm expected to go wild every weekend and grovel. That I live recklessly. I don't like that. I prefer to come here because the atmosphere is very nice. There is no judgement, everyone is accepted as they are."

Social and emotional development

The strength of Moody's Leeuwarden is Daphne, Lex, Rense and Kasia, Amaryllis' youth workers, Bryan believes. "Here, a bond is created between young people that is useful outside Moody's. If it wasn't for Moody's, I might be further along with my studies," he laughs. "But I would be much lonelier. I would often be alone in my room. Moody's is very good for my social and emotional development."

Stay true to yourself

Bryan also has a tip for young people who feel they don't belong. "It is important to be yourself, despite what society or others think of you. Stay true to yourself."
