"Come here and make something of your life"

A year and a half ago, things were not going well for Bram. The 27-year-old Leeuwarder used to blow a lot, drank alcohol regularly and went into crime. He has now been clean for a long time and volunteers five days a week at Moody's in Leeuwarden. There, as a producer, he helps young people make music.

"I was in a black hole and had a difficult time," Bram says of his life before Moody's. "I went from institution to institution. I had psychoses and anxiety attacks." Bram ended up at Workplace Oud-Oost via GGZ. "There I had to put stickers on boxes. It was good to have structure in my life again, but it wasn't for a long time. Ultimately, my heart is in making music. I heard at the workshop that there was a studio at Moody's. I decided to have a look there."

Moody's is a talent incubator and step to help for young people aged between 12 and 27.

You are taken seriously here

Bram was welcomed with open arms by Amaryllis youth workers at Moody's. He now volunteers and helps other young people develop their musical talents. "Here I can make music myself as a producer and help other young people with recordings. Sometimes we even have a gig at Neushoorn. Secretly, I hope to break through as a producer," he gloats. "You are taken seriously here and it really is a great opportunity."

"Outside Moody's, people sometimes have the image that only bruisers come here, but that's really not the case. If it wasn't for Moody's, I might have given up hope and gone back to blowing and drinking. I can recommend all young people to come here and make something of their lives. Anything is possible here and you can get help if needed."
