Informal care
Do you care unpaid for someone who is ill or has a disability? A family member, friend or neighbour? Then you are an informal carer. It can be beautiful, but also tough. Amaryllis can work with you to see how you can make it easier to cope with informal care.
This is what Amaryllis can do with you
Informal carers often feel alone. Yet more is possible than you think. For the person requiring care and for you as an informal carer.
Amaryllis does not provide care or support to carers itself. We do, however, give informal carers an overview, offer perspective and we help find solutions.
In addition, as a carer, it is important to take good care of yourself. We can help with that too. With tips, but also with activities and fun actions for informal carers.

Young carers
Are you a young carer? Amaryllis is here for you too. Check out the Amaryllis website especially for young people soon!

Mantel care cafés

In several Leeuwarden neighbourhoods and villages, Amaryllis organises informal care cafes.
At a Mantelzorgcafé, you can have coffee with other informal carers. Conviviality and meeting other informal carers is paramount. If you like, you can share experiences and exchange tips. Sometimes there is a lecture or other activity. You can also talk to staff from Amaryllis.
Feel welcome to drop by sometime!
When
The informal care cafes are usually once a month, but not in July and August. Check the calendar for the places and dates of the informal care cafés.
Actions and activities for carers
We regularly organise something extra for informal carers. To get away from it all or to be pampered ourselves. Because as an informal carer, you deserve a lot of appreciation!
For example, a nice meal, an outing, lecture, festive gathering, the annual informal care weekend, a concert or discount vouchers.
Staying informed about activities
Many of our own activities come in the agenda on this website.
There are also other activities and actions about which we only send information by post and/or email, to the carers known to us. Please therefore provide your postal and email address to Informal care team.
Lodging flat
We rent a flat in a care home. In this ‘respite room’, a carer can stay overnight from time to time. As a carer, you can then take a break.
Care
A person's own home care goes with them to the guest flat. Does someone not usually have home care? Then we will see if an indication is needed for home care during the stay. The care home's nursing staff is available for emergencies or questions.
Day care
Day care can continue as normal during the stay. For those without day care, we can look at options at Meet & Participate From Amaryllis.
Or stay by yourself
Sometimes it is better to keep the carer at home with all the care around it, and as a carer unwind in the guest flat.
More information
Staying can be for a maximum of two weeks at a time. The co-payment is €10 per day, including meals.
The spare flat is not for crisis or emergency. Consult with team Mantelzorg what is possible in case of crisis or emergency.
Would you like to know more? Or book the guest flat? Then please contact Informal care team.

We regularly send a newsletter to carers by email. Would you like to receive the email newsletter? Let team Mantelzorg know.
