New location Social Neighbourhood Team West
Social District Team West officially opened the doors of a new location at Valeriusstraat 61 in Leeuwarden on Tuesday 17 February. With this new location, the neighbourhood team is taking an important step in strengthening residents' resilience and further expanding the connection in the neighbourhood.
The official opening was done by councillor Hein Kuiken. Neighbourhood residents, network partners, representatives of the municipality, colleagues and others were there to celebrate this moment together. The new location is meant to be a recognisable and accessible place where residents can easily walk in with a question, an idea or to discover what they can do for themselves or for others.
“A building is made of brick and concrete, but a community social team is made of people,” says the team. “This building is a place where meeting is central. Where we listen, connect and search together for solutions that fit residents” lives."
Working together in the neighbourhood
Behind every question is a story, but also opportunities. That is why we work closely with partners in the neighbourhood, such as schools, GPs, housing associations, welfare organisations and volunteers. Together, we strengthen informal networks and encourage initiatives that contribute to self-reliance and prevention.
Open to all
The new location stands for openness, literally and figuratively. The doors are open to anyone who wants to think, participate or contribute to a strong, engaged neighbourhood. Alderman Hein Kuiken: “I hope this will be a nice and meaningful place for people in the neighbourhood!” Visitors could tour the premises, meet staff and engage in conversation.
Walk-in hours and other locations
The walk-in consultations at Valeriusstraat 61 can be found on the team page of Sociaal Wijkteam West. The team also holds walk-in consulting hours in MFC Westenkwartier and MFC Eeltje's Hiem. The team is no longer in the office on Leeuwerikstraat.
