A website specifically for young people
Amaryllis Youth Work now has its own website for young people aged 10 to 27! Money, friends, love and sex, mental health issues, caring for a loved one – young people can turn here with all sorts of questions or concerns. Or simply to share a good idea or suggest some fun activities.
The website is an additional way of reaching young people. “Our young people can be found in all sorts of places where young people gather, such as schools, community and village centres, on the streets and, of course, at our own activities,” explains team leader Arnold Jorna. “Social media is also important to us, for sharing information and chatting. The website is a great addition: it’s where information from and about youth work comes together.”
Youth work in the municipality of Leeuwarden is part of Amaryllis, the organisation for social work and welfare in the municipality of Leeuwarden. Every day – including in the evenings – the youth workers are committed to ensuring that young people are doing well, both now and in the future. They help to prevent or resolve problems.
From a girls’ club to a sports tournament
On the website www.jongeren.amaryllisleeuwarden.nl Amaryllis’s programme for young people is listed here. From girls’ clubs, teen clubs and the Moody’s meeting place, to the Young Parents’ Meeting Centre and special activities such as sports tournaments, ‘Hunting Season’ or holiday outings. Young people can also find information here about questions, concerns and ideas they can discuss with the youth workers, plus tips on how to get started themselves. There is also information for schools and parents. And handy: a list of all the youth workers’ contact details.
Expand
Arnold Jorna: “The website went live back in the summer. After a short trial period, it’s now time to raise its profile. In the meantime, we’ll keep expanding it with topics that matter to young people. Suggestions from young people themselves are, of course, very welcome!”
