A status holder is an asylum seeker with a (temporary) residence permit.

  • Are you a status holder and have you received housing in the municipality of Leeuwarden? If so, Amaryllis offers in the first year social guidance.
  • With other questions, concerns or ideas As a status holder, you can also come to Amaryllis, just like other residents of the municipality. In the first year and beyond.

Social support for status holders

Social support involves assisting status holders with practical matters and familiarising them with society.

Social support consists of:

  • Assistance with arranging practical matters
    For example, assistance with:
    • moving house and furnishing the home
    • taking out insurance policies
    • find a general practitioner and dentist
    • enrol children at school
    • managing finances, allowances and financial overview
  • Information about Dutch society
Such as customs, rules and culture.
  • Getting involved in your neighbourhood or village
For example, we can assist you with:
    • getting to know the neighbours
    • learning the Dutch language
    • meet other people, for example by participating in activities
    • find volunteer work
  • Preparation for work
Together, we will look at your talents and interests. We will help you take the first steps towards work or education.

How does social support work?

Social support is provided by Amaryllis' Status Holders team, together with volunteers.

A social worker from the Status Holders team will be your permanent contact person for social support. The social worker will draw up a plan together with you. This plan will set out what you need and what you want to learn.
We work closely with volunteers. The volunteers are supported by social workers.

We also collaborate with the Municipality of Leeuwarden, such as the Integration Team and the Income Team. And with other organisations, such as the Dutch Council for Refugees, dbieb, Humanitas, BSP, and Sedrana.

KIES training

KIES training

KIES means Children In A Separation It is a programme in a group of eight meetings for children aged 7 to 12. Games and creative assignments allow children to tell, share and learn how to cope better with the divorce. The group is supervised by two social workers. They have undergone special training for this purpose and are official KIES coaches. Why KIES for your child? Children do not choose their parents' divorce. It happens to them. Some children are sad or angry. Other children say little and move on quietly. For all children, divorce feels like the loss of the family. They have to get used to everything becoming different. Children may feel powerless. Sometimes they are not sure what they can do to deal with the situation. Talking helpsChildren often keep their deepest feelings during a divorce to themselves. They don't want to make their parents sad. Sometimes even talking to a child feels like betraying their parents. We call this loyalty. Yet children often have many questions, thoughts and feelings about the divorce. It is important that they learn that all these feelings are normal.By noticing that other children are going through similar things, they feel seen and heard. They experience that they are not alone. During the meetings, children practice how to talk about difficult things and what can help them. This helps them regain confidence in themselves and learn how to cope with the changes. Meetings for parentsFor parents, there are two meetings of about 45 minutes: An information meeting at the beginning of the training. An evaluation meeting at the end. During these meetings, parents are given tools to support their child. Even though parents are no longer partners, they remain jointly responsible for their children's well-being. The dates of these parent meetings will be announced later.
